MIRA - A highly redundant microprocessor-based reactor-shutdown-system

  • 1. Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe GmbH (Germany, FR)

Description

This paper presents the idea of a microprocessor-based reactor shutdown system, for which the licensing process is in progress. The requirements of the system, the resulting hardware and software structure, and the software quality assurance procedures are given. The system consists of 12 microcomputers with redundancies. The programming follows a diverse approach. Quality assurance, covering different constructive and analytical methods and partially supported by tools, is of prime concern for the project
