Method of processing radioactive liquid wastes

Description

Purpose: To enable reuse of condensates from vapors generated in a centrifugal thin film dryer as they are. Method: Liquid wastes are supplied to a centrifuge, and removed with insoluble substances in the liquid wastes. Separated insoluble substances are cement-solidified. The liquid wastes thus removed with insoluble substances are adjusted with pH value and then concentrated in a condenser. The concentrated liquid wastes are stored in a tank, scattered by a liquid pump from above the decontamination tower, contacted with vapors upon passing through the tower, absorb the powder in the vapors and then heated to a saturation temperature. Further, the concentrated liquid wastes are gravitationally supplied to a centrifugal thin film dryer where dried powder is produced. Since the portion of the dried powder that is entrained with the vapors generated in the drying process is absorbed in the decontamination tower, the portion of the powder contained in the condensates produced from the vapors is reduced and the condensates can be used again.
