Phase formation in Y2O3-BaO-CuO system and synthesis of YBa2Cu3O7-δ monocrystals

  • 1. AN SSSR, Chernogolovka (Russian Federation). Inst. Fiziki Tverdogo Tela

Description

Of all ternary compounds formed in Y2O3-BaO-CuO system the phase 123 is the most interesting from the viewpoint of superconducting transition at Tc<90 K. The vertical section E of the system 123 (where E is a figurative point on the binary axis BaO-CuO with coordinates 72% mol.CuO and 28% mol. BaO) is studied. It is shown that the area of initial crystallization of the phase 123 is within 0.2-1.2% mol. Y2O3. Monocrystals of 123 phase, measuring 8x6x0.1 mm, with Tc=90-94 K, ΔT=1-2 K are prepared. 8 refs.; 1 fig
