The design of a three-channel nuclear spectrometry tool for express logging

  • 1. Petroleum Univ., Dongying, Shandong (China). School of Earth Resources and Information

Description

This paper describes a three-channel nuclear spectrometry logging tool, which is designed to meet the needs of platform express logging. The application of complicated programmable logical device (CPLD) expands the tool's function and minimizes its scale. This tool can be used to analyse pulse height for natural gamma spectrometry, long-space and short-space detectors of Litho-density. Compensated neutron log (CNL) and other conventional analog and pulse logging signals can also be acquired. Manchester's code is used in data transmission. Half-duplex mode with 20 kb/s data rate can be selected when it is connected to systems which are compatible with Atlas 3508 telemetry cartridge; or full-duplex mode with 20 kb/s down-link data rate and 93.75 kb/s (or 41.66 kb/s) up-link data rate can be selected when it is connected to systems which are compatible with Atlas WTS telemetry system
