Academia in cardiovascular radiology: are we doing enough for the future of the subspecialty?

Highlights: • 13.5% of radiology trainees are interested in cardiovascular imaging subspecialty. • Most see themselves as academically active and plan on working in an academic setting. • Top 3 perceived barriers to academic work were lack of time, mentorship and support. • Fewer women declare involvement in academic work during core radiology training. • There are significant differences in perceived gender barriers to academic work.
