Electromagnetic pulse emission by plasma oscillations from Z pinches
- 1. Key Laboratory of Pulsed Power, Institute of Fluid Physics, CAEP, Mianyang (China)
Description
Electromagnetic pulse emission produced by single mode plasma oscillations from Z pinches is theoretically studied. The angular distribution of electromagnetic pulse is similar with that of Cerenkov radiation when the phase velocity is superluminal, and the larger the phase velocity is, the more obvious the directional radiation; electromagnetic pulse with shorter wavelength has narrower distribution. The radiation power strongly depends plasma oscillation frequency of electrons and radius of plasma column. (authors)
