Clinical study of high-KV radiography concept

  • 1. Hospital of Traditional of Rizhao, Rizhao, Shandong (China). Dept. of Radiology

Description

Objective: To evaluate High-KV radiography concept again with the clinical view. Methods: PHILIPS-500 mA and China-made 300 mA-500 mA X-ray machines were used. The value of electric current was 2mAs-8 mAs. The voltage was determined by the thickness of various parts of the radiography combined with the film condition and referring to the PHILIPS table. Results: The film quality of thoracic spine (infant, children and adult), skull and extremity etc was better. Conclusion: The new concept of High-kV radiography should be the conversion of voltage with electric current. That is to reduce the kV and to rise the mAs. And it is not according with the voltage that is 120 kV or high to 350 kV. There are two key factors of High-kV radiography KVP. The first factor is ascertainment and conversion of the focus-film distance. The second one is to reduce the mAs and to rise the KV according to PE value of the film. That is when the mAs half reduced the voltage increased about 10 kV
