In diesem Vortrag wird ein historischer Ueberblick ueber die Anfaenge zur Entwicklung der Kernenergie von Klaproth bis Hahn gegeben. Die Betonung liegt dabei insbesondere auf der Erhellung der wissenschaftlichen Hintergruende der Entdeckung der Uranspaltung. Abschliessend werden Folgen dieser Entdeckung beleuchtet. (UA)
