Boundary layer parameterization in CTM and MM4

Description
For the parametrization of the subscale, turbulent exchange processes, closure approximations of the first order are used in CTM - the chemical transport model of EURAD - and in MM4 - the mesoscale, meteorological model of EURAD. The description of the boundary layer in the MM4 uses the high resolution PBL model by Blackadar (1979). Four stability classes are classified. In the CTM, a formulation of Louis (1979) is used for the determination of the vertical exchange coefficient. By means of the CTM, the atmospheric expansion of Cs137 after the reactor accident of Chernobyl is simulated. (orig./KW)

In CTM, dem Chemie-Transport-Modell von EURAD, und MM4, dem mesoskaligen meteorologischen Modell in EURAD, werden zur Parametrisierung der subskaligen turbulenten Austauschprozesse Schliessungsansaetze erster Ordnung verwendet. Die Grenzschichtbeschreibung im MM4 verwendet das hochaufloesende PBL-Modell von Blackadar (1979). Es wird nach vier Stabilitaetsklassen unterschieden. Im CTM wird zur Bestimmung des vertikalen Austauschkoeffizienten eine Formulierung von Louis (1979) verwendet. Mit dem CTM wird die atmosphaerische Ausbreitung von Cs137 nach dem Reaktorunfall von Tschernobyl simuliert. (orig./KW)Additional details
