Decay time of excited 234 U produced in the 232 Th(α, 2 n f) reaction
Description
Measurement of the decay time of excited 234 U produced in the 232 Th(α, 2 n f ) reaction at energy of α particles from 27.6 to 30.5 MeV by means of the shadow approach is carried out. Absolute values of level density in the second potential well and the depth of the second fission barrier minimum of the nucleus are determined on the basis of analysis of experimental data in the framework of statistical theory of nuclear reactions with account for lifetime of excited states of the first and second potential wells. 13 refs., 3 figs., 2 tabs
