Mixed ionic and electronic conducting cathodes for solid oxide fuel cells

  • 1. Chemistry Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Strontium substituted lanthanum manganite has been developed as a cathode material for high temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs). This work has featured the unique combination of the highly electronic conducting LSM porous structure with high ionic conducting nano-sized gadolinium doped Ceria phase and their effect on electrical conductivity measurements. 2 wt % GDC showed better electronic conductivity as compare to pure materials and higher substituted composites. Hence it can be a promising cathode material for SOFC operating at reduced temperature. (author)
