A new facility for averaged resonance capture studies at the Omega West reactor

Description

A facility has been developed at the Omega West reactor at Los Alamos to provide neutron beams of 2 and 24 keV average neutron energies. The neutron beam currents are comparable with those obtained at the Brookhaven high flux beam reactor. A three-crystal pair spectrometer has been developed to allow acquisition of high resolution primary neutron capture gamma ray spectra. This will be used for nuclear spectroscopy and structure studies. (orig.)
