Description

Complete text of publication follows. The ionization distribution in Ar gas by secondary electron ejected by 175 MeV Ar8+ ion was measured and reduced to the energy density (energy deposited in small unit volume) at the radial distance in water. The energy density in the region of 140 nm from the ion path decreased proportionally to square of the distance. Beyond this distance up to 8000 nm, however, the energy density decreased steeper. The energy deposited in the region of from 1 to 8000 nm distance, which excepts core region of track, can be described as 2/3 of liner energy transfer (LET)
