Radioactivity of crystalline rocks as a water-bearing zone indicator and a forming factor

Radioactivity of crystalline rocks of Pre-Cambrian shields as a factor of formation and indicator of water-bearing zones is considered on the basis of comparison of empirical hydrogeological and radiological data and their theoretical generalization from radiation- chemical viewpoint. A direct correlation between spatial dislocation of zones with elevated radioactivity and inundation of Pre- Cambrian crystalline rocks is established. The connection mechanism is explained by the accumulation and migration of uranium and decay products in zones of rock fracture
