Swelling and irradiation creep of 316 stainless steel
Description
The infuence of temperature on swelling of 316 stainless steel is rather complex. The temperature of maximum swelling is particularly variable. At high temperature, a double peak of deformation and swelling appears. This swelling is due to the evolution of the chemical composition. The variation of chemical composition depends on temperature. Irradiation creep is determined in two ways: first by measurement of sample deformation, then by analysis of fuel element deformation. The two methods give similar results for creep rate. The influence of temperature and coupling possibility on swelling is also discussed
