Observations of very high energy gamma radiation in direction of galactic plane

Description
The results of four-years of observations of the galactic plane by means of atmospheric Cherenkov techniques are presented. It is shown that the intensity of cosmic rays for galactic latitude regions from bsup(π) =-1deg,5 to bsup(π) =+1deg,5 decreases in comparison with neighbouring regions. The average amplitude of the effect for all considered longitudes is found to be - 0.7% with confidence level (1-10-5). It is suggested that the galactic disk is the source of very high-energy γ-emission which is generated by the inverse Compton scattering of cosmic electrons on the light of stars. The decrease of the intensity in the direction of the galactic equator results from the decrease of ohoton density in the vicinity of the equator, because of the absorption by interstellar dust.
