Axial injection of polarized 3He ions

Description
Particles of polarized 3He can be produced in any of the four possible electronic charge states; 3He-, 3He0, 3He+ and 3He++. Of these ions in the last three charge states were actually produced, externally injected and accelerated successfully in the cyclotron in the past. This paper briefly summarizes such 3He sources, either actually built in the past or proposed, and compares the accompanying axial injection systems
