Principal decisions on the treatmet of spent fuels of thermal an fast reactors in the USSR
Description
The USSR decisions on the treatment of spent fuel assemblies from WWER-1000 and fast reactors are presented. The spent fuel assemblies from the WWER-1000 are planned to be transported to the storage of the reprocessing plant, which is being designed, after a three-year cooing at NPP by the TK-13 casks in covers containing 12 assemblies. The main layout, technological and apparatus solutions made in the plant design are considered. The adopted decisions on the control of wastes and effluents of radionuclides and poisonous substances, the environment radiation situation, are described. Possibilities of water-extraction technology modification as applied to conditions of regeneration of fast reactor fuel with a short-time cooling (3-6 months) and a deep (≥ 100 GW x day/t) burnup are discussed
