Ballooning magnetic islands in tokamaks

  • 1. Gosudarstvennyj Komitet po Ispol'zovaniyu Atomnoj Ehnergii SSSR, Moscow (USSR). Inst. Atomnoj Ehnergii

Description

The magnetic islands produced by the resistive ballooning mode instability are studied. An expression for the stationary islands width is presented. When there is no ideal ballooning mode instability and q > 1, ballooning magnetic islands will be formed in the banana plateau collisionality regime only. (author). 9 refs
