Alpha cluster states, hyperdeformation and heavy ion resonances
Description
The experimental observations of heavy ion resonances (HIR) discussed here strengthen the view that these resonances are shape isomeric states of compound nucleus. The preferential sequential transitions of the resonant states in 12C+16O and 12C+12C systems to some of the selected states of lighter 4n-systems bring out the interesting structural interconnection of these states in different systems. The study of preferential sequential decay of HIR seems to be very promising to unveil the exotic configurations in terms of both the alpha clustering and deformation of high degree. 30 refs., 10 figs., 2 tabs
