Description

A method of sorting ore with a radioactive component includes the steps of passing a stream of the ore past successive means for detecting zones which have a radioactive emission intensity above a predetermined level, accumulating the successive measurements for each detected zone to arrive at an average radioactive measurement for each zone, weighing the zones of ore and separating zones which have a radioctive intensity to weight ratio above a predetermined level from the remainder of the ore in the stream
