Thermodynamic analysis of Ce-Cr melts
Creators
Description
State diagrams of Ce-Cr solution, excess functions of mixing were calculated and the problem of cerium evaporation from melts was considered. It was established that phase equilibria in Ce-Cr solution were characterized by the presence of retrograde solidus at low cerium contents (up to 2 at%). Excess thermodynamic functions of mixing of studied system are asymmetric, and deviations from Raoult's law are positive. Sufficient cerium losses when chromium doping by it can be explained by evaporation of cerium himself and its volatile oxides
