Description

Direct contrast examination of the biliary system through laparoscopic cholecystostoma is a valuable method in the diagnosis of causes of mechanical jaundice. It gives an opportunity to differentiate between tumors of the biliopancreatoduodenal zone and cholelithiasis complicated by choledocholithiasis. The study was performed in 84 patients with mechanical jaundice. In 79 of them the diagnosis was cancer of the biliopancreatodiodenal zone, in 5 choledolithiasis. This study is usually performed in the presence of infected bile in the gallbladder, therefore it should be done with constant X-ray control based on the principles of rated and oriented cholangiography. The violation of these principles in 12 patients resulted in the spattering of infected bile into intrahepatic bile passages with subsequent development of acute purulent cholangitis
