In this paper, after a pedagogical introduction-to the Calabi-Yau manifolds and a brief phenomenological discussion of generic superstring inspired models, several aspects of the three-generation superstring models compactified in a Calabi-Yau manifold such as discrete symmetries and Yukawa couplings are considered in detail.
