On conformal spinors and semispinors
Description
The author shows that although the Dirac equation is conformally covariant, its covariance is not a 'natural' but a 'restricted' one. Analogously to the appearance of the spin doubling of Dirac's equation as a consequence of relativistic covariance, the author proves that if a 'natural' conformally covariant spinor field equation is adopted, it forsees the doubling of the Dirac equation in Minkowski space-time and the natural appearance of an U(2) internal symmetry.
