Description

In order to properly manage an aquifer it is pre-requisite to have a prior knowledge of aquifer parameters. The parameters, which are crucial in decision making pertaining to quantum of water to be extracted from an aquifer, include Transmissivity (T) and Storativity (S). In this paper effort has been made to develop a computer model in the framework of GA (Genetic Algorithm) which inversely and optimally identifies the aquifer parameters T and S. To check the validity of the model, the results obtained through the GA model are compared with the results obtained through the Theis conventional approach and also with the prototype data. Since minimization of the objective function (sse) achieved through the GA model is of higher level than that of the Theis approach, this is valid enough to endorse the model results. (author)
