On estimation technique of hydrogen embrittlement of steels from plane strain toughness data
Creators
Description
A comparison has been made between the sensitivity of standard mechanical properties (sigmasub(B), sigmasub(0.2), sigmasub(10), PSI, HRC) and fracture toughness characteristics Ksub(Ic) to the content of diffusable hydrogen (DH) with particular reference to the study of the three states of steel VNS-2 with the various concentrations of DH. It has been found that the most sensitive parameter is the coefficient of stress intensity Ksub(Ic). This coefficient is considered to be convenient as a reference characteristic when studying the tendency of highstrength steels to hydrogen embrittlement
