Description
Genetic analysis was carried out for six maize cultivars and their 30 F/sub 2/ crosses under agro-climatic conditions at Agricultural Research Institute of Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan. The analysis of variance indicated highly significant differences among parents and their F/sub 2/ progeny for all the parameters. The genetic analysis revealed that the characters Viz ; kernels/ear, kernels rows/ear, kernels/row, ear length, 1000 grain weight and grain yield have shown additive type gene action. According to regression analysis, the non-significant deviation of the regression line from unit slope indicated the absence of non-allelic interaction, which was presented in all the characters.
