Description
Superconducting detector magnet technology for high energy physics experiments in the colliding beam accelerators is now under rapid progress. The guide lines in this new technology are the concept of thin solenoid, aluminum stabilization of NbTi/Cu superconductor and inner winding techniques. The stabilization technique of NbTi/Cu superconductor with high purity aluminum was a natural conclusion from the requirements for light materials with very high thermal conductivity and high residual resistance ratio (RRR). Recent status of several practical superconducting detector magnets, is reported and the new technical trends of detector magnets are reviewed in this paper. Discussions on the future possibility of detector magnets for accelerators are also given
