Gas-cooled reactors - status of HTR development in the USSR

Description
In the last 20 years, the gas-cooled HTR reactor line has been of interest to most industrial countries. While the West, except for the Federal Republic of Germany, seems to have lost interest in the meantime, efforts in the USSR have increased. At the Minsk meeting, the state of the art of the HTR project was reviewed, especially in a visit to the Kurchatov institute. Advanced developments on the reactor and fuel element sector were presented - a construction permit for a prototype plant is expected for the near future - and interest in a potential cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany is expressed. Abstract (German)
Die Linie des gasgekuehlten Hochtemperaturreaktors hat sei 20 Jahren in den meisten Industrielaendern Interesse gefunden. Waehrend im Westen ausserhalb der Bundesrepublik Deutschland das Engagement heute stark vermindert erscheint, hat es sich in der Sowjetunion vergroessert. Anlaesslich des Meetings in Minsk ergab sich die Gelegenheit, den Stand der Arbeiten auf dem HTR-Gebiet in der Sowjetunion insbesondere durch den Besuch des Kurtschatow-Instituts kennenzulernen. Dabei waren sowohl weit fortgeschrittene Entwicklungen auf dem Reaktor- und Brennelementgebiet - ein Baubeschluss fuer eine Prototyp-Anlage wird erwartet - als auch ein potentielles Interesse an einer engeren Zusammenarbeit mit der Bundesrepublik gezeigt.
