Condensation of a shell around HD 193793

Description
Infrared photometry of the Wolf-Rayet binary HD 193793 shows that grains condensed in its circumstellar shell between 1976 June and 1977 August. The observations can be fitted by an optically thin shell of 4 x 10-8 solar masses of graphite grains at a temperature of about 900 K. A spectrum in the 2-μm atmospheric window reveals an emission feature near 2.04 μm. The same feature has been found in the W-R system γ2 Vel and it has been provisionally ascribed to the 2.058-μm He I line. (author)
