18F-2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-glucose as a tracer in the positron emission tomographic study of senile dementia
Description
Using 18F-2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-glucose as a tracer, the authors obtained positron emission tomographic scans of 11 patients with senile dementia and 6 age-matched controls. The rate of glucose metabolism was significantly lower in the patients with senile dementia and significantly correlated with the degree of cognitive impairment
