Description
Electromagnetic Applications and Instrumentation Division (EmA and ID) of BARC has developed and supplied many D/H Mass-Spectrometers for Deuterium to Hydrogen analysis (Heavy water analysis) within Department of Atomic Energy, India since many years. Electronics systems used in these instruments were bulky and had less protection against spark conditions. Most of the electronics systems and analytical methods used in these instruments were manual and thus prone to human intervention errors. To avoid errors due to manual operation, automated and precise control of all instrumental parameters was desired. Thus, PC controlled miniaturized electronics with enhanced protections and man-machine interface software for control of instrumental parameters, data acquisition and analysis has been developed. All the electronics and software, developed in house, have several new features in comparison to similar systems developed for earlier mass D/H spectrometers. In the present paper these features are highlighted
