Two- and three-body events in the reaction 129Xe+122Sn at 9.6, 12.5 and 18.3 MeV/u
Description
Three-body events arising from a fast two-step mechanism have been observed at 9.6, 12.5 and 18.3 MeV/u in the reaction 129Xe + 122Sn. The three-body probability is a fairly universal function of the first-step energy loss. This independence from bombarding energy rules out a dynamical nature of the fission process like ''fast projectile splitting''. (orig.)
