Description
An important phase during the development of a risk assessment, is the historical analysis of abnormal occurrences in similar plants, which can provide important data to improve the design and operation of new plants. This paper presents the results of a historical analysis based on events occurred in nuclear and radioactive installations in the USA, from 1986 to 1995. It has been identified that three were few occurrences related to the operation of reactor plants and fuel cycle facilities. Most of the reported events were related to industrial and medical applications. (author)
