Evidence of coherent π+ production in (3He,t) reactions

Description
Experimental evidence for coherent π+ production in 12C(3He,tπ+)12C charge exchange reactions at 2 GeV is presented. The excited states of carbon are found to be suppressed relative to the ground state. Angular distributions show that the momentum of the coherent pions is directed along the momentum transfer.
