Soil properties investigation in Slovenia, related to soil to plant radionuclide and stable element transfer factors

Few years ago a research program has been started with the purpose of investigating sorption of fall-out 90Sr to different soil types and the transfer of 90Sr to vegetables, grains, and fruit, grown in Slovenia. So far, 90Sr concentration has been determined in 91 soil samples and about 50 vegetable, grain and fruit samples. Soil properties: pH organic matter, total and exchangeable Ca, sum of basic cations and soil texture, has been determined in 37 samples. Analysis of microelement content has been investigated in 12 soil and 15 vegetable and wheat samples. In the present paper some preliminary results on 90Sr sorption in different soil types, as well as some soil to potato, wheat, carrot and cabbage transfer, will be presented. Results obtained are in agreement with some and disagreement with other statements found in the literature, on the same subject. (Author)
