Municipalities acting on climate protection: tools and techniques to align mitigation and adaptation

Creators

Description

'Full text:' Municipalities are on the front line in mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change. FCM's Green Municipal Fund and Partners for Climate Protection program have been supporting municipalities with tools, methodologies and financing to support action. Come learn about some of the emissions reductions projects that municipalities have been implementing, along with the tangible results in greenhouse gas reductions and energy efficiency that has been achieved. Results from a recent FCM study will be used to then illustrate how municipalities are beginning to bridge from mitigation to adaptation, their approach, data sources and reference materials that have guided the transition. Participants will be asked for input throughout the presentation on the types of resources that should be developed to further assist municipal engineers in climate protection. (author)
