Measurement of the magnetic easy axis dispersion in perpendicular media

Description

Angle dependent magnetic hysteresis measurements in conjunction with micromagnetic simulations are used to determine the magnetic easy axis dispersion (ΔθEA) in perpendicular magnetic recording media. ΔθEA is found to be narrower than the crystalline c-axis dispersion, as measured using X-ray diffraction rocking curves. ΔθEA is further found to be reduced with increasing intergranular exchange coupling using a series of perpendicular CoCrPt alloy media
