Description
Although a total of ten High Activity Liquid Waste (HALW) storage tanks were installed in the Main Plant (MP) and in High Active Liquid Waste Storage at the Tokai Reprocessing Plant, they had not been inspected directly because the HALW storage tanks were in a highly radioactive environment. To check the soundness of HALW storage tanks directly by remote control, the development of a measurement system was started fiscal 2000. Remote inspection equipment with a robot that can run on a tank wall was also developed, and measurement work was performed in fiscal 2002. No significant loss of wall thickness by tank corrosion was observed as a result of the measurement. Thus the corrosion by HALW was very slight, which confirmed the reliability of safe HALW storage.
