Application of tracer techniques to studies of metal refining efficiency
Creators
Description
The efficiency of zone refining of gallium from silver as well as indium from zinc was studied using tracer techniques. The profile of impurity distribution was determined by the collimation method of measuring sup(110m)Ag and 65Zn radioisotope radiation. The microstructure of impurity distribution was determined by autoradiography. The efficiency of zone refining was determined as a function of melt zone width. The present method proved to be more effective for investigation into zone refining of metals, as compared to analytical methods
