Description

The microscopic optical model potential is investigated in its full form starting from the nonlocal two-body effective force. It is found that the nonlocality causes an effective repulsion in the nuclear interior which produces a so called wine-bottle shape which characterizes the optical model potential at intermediate energy. Its relationship to the relativistic approaches based on the Dirac equation is discussed
