Description

Experimental data on the differential cross sections of the p+A→p+X reaction on 6Li, Be, C, Al, Cu and Ta nuclei at the proton emission at 70 deg, 90 deg, 118 deg, 137 deg and 160 deg in the l.s. are presented in tables and graphs. The measurements were performed at the highest available initial energy of 400 GeV. The data at 700 MeV are also given. The experimental procedure and instruments are described in detail. Significant dissimilarities in shapes of the spectra for different targets have been observed at all angles. The strong A-dependence of the proton yields changes but little as the initial proton energy increases from 8 to 400 GeV. The hypothesis of nuclear scaling, which, in particular, predicts that the spectra of backward emitted protons must weakly depend on the initial energy in the range from 8 to 400 GeV, has been reaffirmed
