Effect of ultrasonic amplitude on synthesis of all Co-Cr

Description

Co-Cr alloy is material that has mechanical properties, wear, corrosion resistance and biocompatible, so it is used as material implant. Co-Cr alloy synthesis methods used ball-milling method and melting method. Some of these methods, describes the existence of two stages of formation, grain reduce and alloy formation with high temperature. Ultrasonic method is a potential method in powder alloy synthesis, grain reduce and mixing of particles can be done in the same stage because of cavitation. This research aims to obtain optimal amplitude on Co-Cr alloy synthesis. Ultrasonic irradiation was performed in ethanol solution for 50 hours with varying the ultrasonic amplitude for 40 %, 50 %, 60 % and powder of Co-Cr without ultrasonic with mass composition 70 % Co and 30 % Cr, and then characterized using SEM-EDS and XRD. The increase of amplitudes will decrease grain size. Result of SEM-EDS and XRD indicate that Co-Cr HCP alloy in amplitudes 40 %, 50 % and 60 % with different percentage. Greatest of Co-Cr alloy composition is achieved at the 60 % amplitude with percentage of Co-Cr alloy is 72.4 %. (author)
