Numerical solution of large sparse linear systems

Description

This note is based on one of the lectures given at the 1980 CEA-EDF-INRIA Numerical Analysis Summer School whose aim is the study of large sparse linear systems. The main topics are solving least squares problems by orthogonal transformation, fast Poisson solvers and solution of sparse linear system by iterative methods with a special emphasis on preconditioned conjuguate gradient method

Cette note a ete ecrite d'apres un cours presente a l'Ecole d'ete CEA-EDF-INRIA sur l'analyse numerique et consacre au traitement des grands systemes lineaires. Les principaux sujets traites sont: les problemes de moindres carres, la resolution rapide de l'equation de Poisson, et les methodes iteratives pour la resolution des systemes lineaires avec une etude speciale de la methode du gradient conjugue
