On the evolution of the intensive localized Langmuir field in a plasma

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev. Inst. Yadernykh Issledovanij

Description

The temporal evolution of a sufficiently strong localized Langmuir field is shown to give rise to the density squeezing out of the localization domain and the formation of the deepening and contracting density 'well'. The field peak amplitude increases at the centre of such a caviton. The time for the caviton formation is determined by the most inertial process, namely by the sound irradiation out of the coupling domain. A comparison with some numerical experiments is carried out.
