Description

Radiation therapy combined with surgery is indicated in the treatment of advanced (stage III and IV) carcinomas of the head and neck. High doses of radiation are probably more effective than low doses, and radiation given after surgery is probably preferable to that given before surgery. State I and II tumors usually do not require combination treatment and may be comparably treated with either radiation or surgery
