Effect of strain aging on the fatigue crack growth rate of steel CSN 41 6445
Description
The results are summarized of investigating the effect of strain aging on fatigue crack growth rates of bainitic nickel-molybdenum steel. Theoretical analysis of crack tip strain together with experimental data showed that the response of material at the crack tip to cyclic loading is the same for both untreated material and material strain-aged with 10 to 100 loading cycles. Fatigue crack growth rates were not affected by strain aging since the diameter of the plastic zone is by one order of magnitude greater than the increment of fatigue crack length for above given number of cycles.
