Data processing in CCD based cold neutron tomography

Creators

Description

Optimization of data processing of neutron tomography at the research reactor FRM-II, Germany, was reported. In the serial processing before optimization, operator's inputs were needed for each step. It took too much computer and network resources. 6-8 hours were needed for the processing of a typical data set. The rotational axis was found automatically with the improved algorithm, which makes the processing fully automatic. By introducing stream line pre-processing during data acquisition, and implementing distributed reconstruction, the processing time of a tomography data set was reduced to about 30 minutes. (author)
