Fixed target B physics at Fermilab and the SSC

Description
A program of B physics studies in the fixed target hadronic production is presented. Fermilab E-771 took data at the end of 1991 with an 800 GeV/c proton beam on a silicon target. Preliminary results are presented. A follow-up experiment, P-867, has been proposed to address the issues of b→u transitions, B baryons and Bs mixing. The ultimate experiment, capable in principle to explore CP violation in the B system, could be performed at the SSC. (orig.)
